Coaching for Waitākere members and new riders is run on Thursday and Friday nights throughout the BMX season. Any cancellations or updates will be posted to our Facebook page and through the Sporty App.
The track is closed to ALL RIDERS during any club-organised training session to enable those riders participating in the training to fully focus without distraction.
Open to riders who are new to the sport of BMX and our youngest riders.
Skills learned in these sessions focus on the basics such as bike control, balance, coordination and riding fundamentals.
No clip-in pedals please, the skills being taught in these sessions are best learned without clips.
To participate in club training you must have your own bike, full face helmet and appropriate protective gear. The rental shed is only open on Friday's for Have-a-Go sessions

SESSION 2 - 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Gates and Self fitness session suitable for all confident riders
If you are after more focused training in smaller groups, paid private training sessions are available throughout the year. These sessions are by prior booking only unless otherwise advertised.
Toni James runs regular sessions at the Waitākere BMX Club and has over 25 years of racing experience with numerous National and World rankings. She has coached at a national level, as the New Zealand Mighty 11 team coach.
Typically sessions are run on Monday and Tuesday nights, with pop-up clinics during the holiday periods.

Occasionaly we will run clinics at Waitākere, or one of the other Northern Region clubs, using coaches outside of the club. When these sessions become available they will be offered to all members and are limited in numbers so will be offered on a first in basis.
