Race Plates

 

To arrange a race plate you firstly need to email us and put in a request for a number.

 

Provide three different sets of numbers between 50 - 1000 that you might like.

For example; 98, 398, 999.

Along with the following information:

1. Which class you are racing in IE: 20inch or Cruiser

2. Which plate design IE: Classic, Lines, Tyre Tread

3. What name you would like to appear on your plate IE: Bobby or Bobby Brown

We will confirm which number selection is available for you to have and allocate it to you on the club database, we will process your order once payment has been received.

Please note Numbers 1 -50 are protected for National rankings.

 

Riders must use the correct colour combinations as indicated below when ordering plates:

Men Elite / Women Elite - White Plate, Black Numbers

Men's Juniors / Women's Juniors - Black Plate, White Numbers

Male 20" - Yellow Plate, Black Numbers

Female 20" - Blue Plate, White Numbers

Cruisers - Red Plate, White Numbers

 

Riders must have the correct plate attached for all national race meetings and club points nights.

Strider & Sprocket riders inital membership fee includes their race plate. The plate numbers are preset by BMXNZ and must be used up until the rider turns age 8.

Waitakere members can order number plates by completing order form below. Number Plates are $40 each,

Racing Gear

With so many brands and options out there it can be tough to find the right gear. To get started you just need to be fully covered including gloves and most importantly a full faced helmet - We do have a limited number of hire helmets available to have a go and see if you like racing.

What to Buy

 

Choosing the right size bike for the rider is important. Here is an indictive rider height to bike guide;

Micro Mini - 18" Wheels, for children aged 5 or under who are shorter than 120cm. 

Mini - Between 115 and 135cm tall

Junior - Between  130cm - 145cm tall

Expert - Between 140cm to 160cm tall

Pro - Between 155cm to 175cm tall

Pro XL or above - For larger adult riders, or those who prefer a longer frame

Cruiser - 24" Wheels, generally available in Junior, Expert and Pro sizes.

There are a number of local stores that stock a range of BMX gear to suit those just starting out to those who are at the top of their game and where every gram is important. 

 

We always recommend supporting your local bike store as they will be able to provide the best advice and support as you grow into the sport.
